Fruitful Entrepreneurs - Female Founder Series Episode 11 with guest Dr Ariella Heffernan-Marks

Episode 11: Systemic Change for Women's Health with female founder, Dr Ariella Heffernan-Marks

Welcome to Episode 11 of the Fruitful Entrepreneurs Podcast, where we shine a light on some incredible women and their inspiring journey as female founders. In this episode, 'Systemic Change for Women's Health', host Shelley Tilbrook chats to Dr Ariella Heffernan-Marks, an impressive young entrepreneur who identified a problem with womens health, slow diagnosis and male skewed clinical research to develop the Ovum app - the first ever Personal Health Assistant powered by A.I to support women.

Her mandate, to change the future of healthcare, advocacy, and access to personalised medical knowledge for women.

56% of Australian women are navigating chronic health issues, and with each journey comes a myriad of challenges—misunderstood symptoms, dismissed concerns, and systemic gaps in care. We're intimately familiar with these struggles because we've lived them too.

That's why we're committed to doing more than just improving the status quo. Ovum is leveraging the power of A.I to create the first personal health assistant that understands and empowers women with their health over a lifetime.

“I realised that women were disempowered when it came to all areas of their health.

This was largely due to a lack of understanding about their own reproductive, and general health; but also due to the complexity of the siloed nature of women’s health care.

I also knew women had been under represented in clinical trials for decades, meaning we needed more longitudinal data to improve treatments for women.

OVUM aims to empower women by providing them with a platform to record, store, discuss, understand, integrate and share their health data over their lifespan."
