Are you an entrepreneur who is constantly on the go and at times feeling overwhelmed? Stress can be a common issue among entrepreneurs, as they are often working long hours with tight deadlines and needing to make many decisions. Fortunately, there are several solutions that you can use to reduce stress, such as meditation, movement, mindset, aromas and breath work.


As a business owner, the reason why it is so important to manage your stress levels, is that during stress, your decision-making is likely to be affected and your IQ reduces due to excessive cortisol in your system. Put simply, the cortisol triggers your brain to operate in flight or flight mode and your strategic thinking becomes limited.


Stress is also a significant contributor to illnesses. One person out of three reports feeling very stressed in their daily life, which tends to put us at risk of activating harmful viruses that may be in our system.


When we experience stress, we harm our body’s ability to fight antigens with antibodies. Daily stress and stressful situations can be detrimental to our immune system. The more stress reduction activities you can bring in your life, the stronger your immune system will become.


The good news is, we can learn to regulate our stress levels. Here’s a quick look at each of these five methods and how you can use them to de-stress.


Meditation

Meditation is one of the most popular and effective methods for reducing stress among entrepreneurs. It helps to clear your mind and allows you to focus on the present moment, rather than the countless tasks waiting for you in the future. It is important to remember that meditation does not require any special equipment or specific techniques; all it takes is a few minutes of deep breathing and focusing on your thoughts. You can also try guided meditations if you prefer more structure in your practice. There are many apps to help you make this a daily ritual or take a class or get out in nature.



Movement

Movement has proven to be an effective way to reduce stress levels among entrepreneurs because it releases endorphins that help improve your mood. Exercise also helps clear your mind by allowing you to focus on something else other than work-related tasks. A great way to start incorporating movement into your daily routine is by taking short walks during breaks or participating in yoga classes online. This will give you a chance to get away from the office environment and give your body some much needed rest while still staying productive at work.


Mindset

You can change your mindset by being more positive and live in the present moment. According to studies across the world, positivism is a trait that increases your health and reduces your chances of being sick from a virus. Not only is the immune system of optimistic people more robust, but they also show signs of being healthier in general.


An excellent way to start improving your attitude is to focus on gratitude. Finding things that you are grateful for will help you see the best in everything. You can do so by writing in a journal the daily gratitude that you want to express. Besides, practicing mindfulness will help you to manage your tensions. Mindfulness is the ability to stay in the present moment and stop worrying about the past or the future. Less mental stress also means less physical stress and give more power to your immune system.


Breath Work

Breath work is another great way for entrepreneurs to de-stress because it helps bring awareness back into our bodies through mindful breathing exercises. Breath work helps us relax our muscles, slow down our heart rate, and shift our mindset so we are better able to face stressful situations with clarity and focus. Incorporating simple breath exercises throughout the day can help us become more mindful of our thoughts and emotions so we can better manage them when needed.


Our favourite is box breathing - breathe in for 5, hold for 5, out for 5, hold for 5 (repeat for 5).



Aromas

Aromas from essential oils can help you boost your immune system while bringing a sense of calmness into space. One of the most effective essential oils is Lavender.


Lavender is a powerful oil in which antioxidants help the body protect the cells from toxins.


You can use it in a diffuser to help kill allergen and bring a fresh scent to your home and help you relax. Place a drop of lavender oil on your pillow to improve your sleep. Another great way to use lavender oil is by adding two to four drops to your bathwater. Lavender oil will help you release the toxins from your body while finding a deep sense of relaxation.


Business owners have enough on their plate without having added stress due to overworking or overthinking situations out of control without resolution options attached. Meditation, movement, mindset, aromas and breath work are five strategies designed specifically for entrepreneurs that can help reduce stress levels in order for them to stay focused on their business goals while maintaining peace of mind along the journey towards success!


Utilising these techniques will allow entrepreneurs to take control of their mental health through self-care practices that provide relief from overwhelming feelings associated with stressful events or circumstances faced within their respective businesses!
